the Grower

Maine Ocean Farms was, founded in early 2017 by three professional mariners Willy, Tom and Eric.  All USCG licensed Captains we met working on commercial boats and were looking for a way to continue working on the water without having to leave our home of Maine on long contracts sometimes to the other side of the world.  What a better way to work on the water, than to grow oyster which positively impacts the quality of the waters we love in the place we call home and crates the opportunity to engage with and educate the local community about aquaculture and marine ecology.  All while providing a local, healthy source of protein for so many amazing Maine and New England restaurants and our neighbors.

Since 2017, we have grown from three partners to an amazing farm team of six and our farm itself has grown from 1,600 square feet to 10-Acres (435,600 square ft).  At the root of our business is a deep connection to the ocean, which has provided us much experience and a reason to jump out of bed every morning and head to the farm.
